We are seeking a Vice President Subsurface (m/f/d) in Karlsruhe, on a permanent, full-time basis (40h per week). In this role, you will take on a key position within the Senior Leadership Team at Vulcan Energy Resources. You will report directly to the CEO and be responsible for the entire subsurface strategy, exploration, field development, and future reservoir management of our geothermal and lithium brine projects.

With your deep technical expertise and strategic vision, you will lead a team of around 30 highly qualified geoscientists and reservoir engineers, setting new standards for sustainable energy production. Your decisions will have a direct impact on the company's success and contribute to the global energy transition.

Your mission

Leadership and Team Management

You will take on the strategic and operational leadership of the Subsurface Division, reporting directly to the CEO.
You will lead interdisciplinary and multi-cultural teams consisting of approximately 30 geoscientists and reservoir engineers.
You will be responsible for the long-term talent strategy, development, and scaling of the team.

Strategic Portfolio & Resource Management

Your core tasks will include identifying and developing new business opportunities in geothermal energy and lithium exploration.
You will evaluate and mature projects in Germany and France from exploration to economically robust and profitable prospects, develop KPIs and rank projects accordingly.
You will be in charge of subsurface risk management and optimization of the subsurface portfolio through well-informed investment decisions.

Project Development

You will develop field development plans based on subsurface 3D modeling workflows and oversee their implementation.
You will plan and supervise G&G data acquisition, drilling activities, and exploration campaigns.
You will ensure that the highest technical standards and HSEQ compliance are maintained.

Stakeholder Management & Market Positioning

You will oversee permitting processes, direct communication with strategic partners, and build sustainable relationships with key stakeholders.
Your role will also include negotiating heat supply agreements and developing new business models in the geothermal energy market.
You will represent Vulcan Energy at the executive level in industry associations, conferences, and regulatory bodies.

Your profile

At least 15 years of experience in the E&P industry, geothermal energy sector, or lithium brine exploration & production.
Proven experience in leading large technical teams in international and interdisciplinary environments.
Deep technical and commercial expertise in fluid mining (oil & gas, geothermal energy) and HSEQ standards.
Executive-level strategic competence in portfolio management, budgeting, and business performance control.
Ability to seize entrepreneurial opportunities in a highly dynamic and volatile market environment.
Excellent communication, analytical, and negotiation skills, with a solution-oriented approach and business-fluent English.

Wir suchen dich als Vice President Subsurface (m/w/d) in Karlsruhe, unbefristet und in Vollzeit (40h). Mit dieser Aufgabe übernimmst du eine zentrale Rolle im Senior Leadership Team von Vulcan Energy Resources. Du berichtest direkt an den CEO und bist verantwortlich für die gesamte Subsurface-Strategie, Exploration, Feldentwicklung, und das zukünftige Lagerstätten-Management unserer Geothermie- und Lithium-Brine-Projekte.

Mit deinem tiefgehenden technischen Know-how und deiner strategischen Weitsicht leitest du ein Team von rund 30 hochqualifizierten Geowissenschaftlern und Reservoir-Ingenieuren und setzt neue Maßstäbe für die nachhaltige Energiegewinnung. Deine Entscheidungen prägen direkt den Unternehmenserfolg und tragen zur globalen Energiewende bei.

Das erwartet Dich bei uns

Leadership und Teamführung

Du übernimmst die strategische und operative Leitung des Subsurface-Bereichs mit direkter Berichtslinie zum CEO.
Du führst interdisziplinäre und mulitkulturelle Teams bestehend aus ca. 30 Geowissenschaftlern & Reservoir-Ingenieuren.
In deiner Verantwortung liegen die langfristige Talentstrategie, Weiterentwicklung und Skalierung des Teams.

Strategisches Portfolio- & Ressourcenmanagement:

Zu deinen Kernaufgaben gehören die Identifikation und Erschließung neuer Geschäftsmöglichkeiten in der Geothermie und Lithium-Exploration.
Du bewertest und maturierst Projekte in Deutschland und Frankreich mit Blick auf ihre Umsetzungsfähigkeit und Profitabilität. Du etablierst KPIs, die eine Priorisierung des Projektportfolios erlauben.
Du bist verantwortlich für das Subsurface Risikomanagement und die Optimierung des Subsurface-Portfolios durch fundierte Investmententscheidungen.

Projektentwicklung:

Du entwickelst Feldentwicklungsplänen basierend auf Subsurface 3D-Modellierungs-Workflows und überwachst deren Implementierung.
Du planst und überwachst G&G-Datenakquisitionen, Bohrungen und Explorationskampagnen.
Dabei stellst du sicher, dass die höchsten technischen Standards und HSEQ-Compliance eingehalten werden.

Stakeholder-Management & Marktpositionierung:

Du begleitest und überwachst Genehmigungsprozesse und sorgst für nachhaltige Beziehungen mit strategischen Partnern, Investoren und Behörden.
Zu deinen Aufgaben gehören zudem Verhandlungen zu Wärmelieferverträgen und Entwicklung neuer Geschäftsmodelle im Geothermie-Markt.
Du vertrittst Vulcan Energy auf Executive-Level in Industrieverbänden, Konferenzen & gegenüber Regulierungsbehörden.

Das solltest Du mitbringen

Du hast mindestens 15 Jahre Erfahrung in der E&P-Branche, Geothermie oder Lithium-Brine-Exploration & -Produktion.
Du kannst Erfahrung im Führen großer technischer Teams in internationalen & interdisziplinären Umfeldern nachweisen.
Du besitzt tiefgehendes technisches & kommerzielles Know-how im Fluid Mining (Öl & Gas, Geothermie) & HSEQ-Standards.
Du bringst Executive-Level-Strategiekompetenz in Portfolio-Management, Budgetierung & Business-Performance-Steuerung mit.
Du zeichnest dich durch Fähigkeit aus, in einem hochdynamischen und volatilen Marktumfeld unternehmerische Chancen nutzen können.
Exzellente Kommunikations-, Analyse- & Verhandlungsfähigkeiten mit einem lösungsorientierten Ansatz sowie verhandlungssichere Englischkenntnisse runden dein Profil ab.
